Countdown to Nov. 30: Meet R.H. from Glenview, IL
At the age of 58, R.H. was laid off from his position with a bank on June 1 of this year. With decades of prior work and business experience, he’s applied for all types of jobs, without any offers so far. Unemployment insurance has, thus far, enabled him to maintain health insurance coverage for himself and his wife – but the COBRA payment takes $1,200 of his monthly $1,500 in unemployment benefits. And now he faces being cut-off from those benefits in December, unless Congress acts to continue the expanded benefits program. read more »
